Lateral Flow Tests Explained
Outlined below are details of the testing procedures that will take place on our school site. These Lateral Flow Tests give results within 30 minutes.
1
Students who are attending school arrive at our test site on Monday morning with their teacher whilst wearing a face covering.
2
Students are invited to a testing station. They will be issued with a swab which must be inserted up each nostril, turning for 10-15 seconds, to gain a sample. Students are guided by a teacher during this stage.
3
The student’s swab sample will then be placed in a test tube ready for our team to carry out the lateral flow test.
4
The test results are available after 30 minutes. Depending on the result, the student will either continue with their day’s activities or will be isolated in our medical room (accompanied by a member of our team) while we arrange for them to be sent home.
Routine Testing
Students who are in school will receive routine tests to support in the identification of asymptomatic carriers (those who have COVID-19 but show no symptoms).
Serial Testing
If your child has been identified as having had close contact with a positive case of COVID-19 they will be offered the opportunity to have a daily test at the school for 7 days. If this returns negative they will be allowed to attend school as normal.
If you decide against this, your child will have to isolate for a period of 10 days.
Positive Results
If your child tests positive at school you must then arrange a confirmation test at a local testing station through this link.
