A very busy and happy Open Evening at Springwest on Wednesday.
On Wednesday 10th October we held our annual Open Evening for parents of children in Year 6. We were delighted to see well over 300 parents and carers. Many parents and carers toured the academy themselves and others were given guided tours from our Year 10 students and a range of academic staff.
There were some really engaging activities going on across all our Departments, with our students and our visitors joining in the learning. Our visitors enjoyed finding out about living conditions from the past up in History, tried their hand at French and Spanish and stretched their brains with Maths puzzles. 34 Victoria Sponges were baked and consumed. Beat the Goalie was packed all evening! The feedback was that our visitors got a real feel for what we are about and the importance we place on active learning strategies. Many reported a real ‘buzz of excitement’ as they went around our school and the expert job done by our student tour guides.
Our Principal, Mariella Wilson, gave talks to parents throughout the evening. She was very ably supported by two of our new Year 7 students talking with great confidence about their experiences of Springwest in their first few weeks.
It was a total pleasure to see familiar faces as well as meet many new families. We very much look forward to seeing them in 2019 as students of Springwest Academy.
In the meantime, there’s still time to come and visit us for a day time tour before the deadline for applications on 31st October. Just phone Reception to book a time – 020 8831 3000
