Smashing A-Level Results
We are delighted to report a very strong set of A Level results at Springwest Academy. 30% of A-Level entries were graded A*-A and 50% graded A*-B. It is a true testament to the hard work of students and teachers that despite the increased rigour in assessments and the introduction of new A Levels in a number of subjects this year; we continue to see excellence and true success. The overall pass rate at A-Level was 98% with 58% of pupils gaining 3 A-Levels graded A*-C.
Strong results in French and Spanish saw Megan Rendell picking up A*s in both languages and securing her place at Southampton. Humanities have again returned excellent results with both Jamaal Haji and Quinton Hendricks achieving A*AA in Sociology, History and English Literature. Students have achieved well in the sciences also with Jeevan Seira obtaining A grades in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. He is going on to University College London next year to study Biomedical Sciences. Our outstanding Art department saw all entries being awarded A*, well deserved and all those who visited the exhibition in July would attest to this.
We must also recognise the outstanding achievement of our students in our vocational courses (Business, Finance and IT). 66% of all entries achieved the highest grade possible (Distinction*) with 93% of entries awarded either Distinction or Distinction*. Aivaras Kaminskis achieved D*D*D and will be studying Mechanical Engineering and Nathaniel Hunt, achieving the same grades, is moving on to study computer science.
Success in such a wide range of subjects shows how well we have all adapted to the changing nature of examinations at A-Level and how well prepared our students are to step up to university. We are hugely proud of each and every one of our students.
