TEACHING ASSISTANT POSTS -Start date September 2018

TEACHING ASSISTANT – to start as soon as possible

We have a vacancy for a Teaching Assistant to support students with a range of special educational needs throughout the school including young people with Autism, physical disabilities or who find learning challenging for a variety of reasons, within a mainstream setting. We would like to encourage people who may be considering a career in teaching.  However, we are looking for at least a two year commitment.  We would also welcome applications from candidates with relevant experience.

You will work with the students in a variety of ways, supporting them in mainstream classrooms, in withdrawal situations and during unstructured time – breaks and lunchtimes. The successful candidate will need to be flexible and able to adapt to work with students with a range of special educational needs throughout the school.

An understanding of the range of special educational needs that face young people is essential.  Experience of working with young people with additional needs is desirable and a willingness to undertake specific training will be required including manual handling.  A good induction programme is in place and you will join a large existing team of dedicated professionals.

Here at Springwest Academy, part of Tudor Park Education Trust, we’re always seeking to better our best. We strive to provide outstanding teaching and abundant opportunities in a wonderfully diverse and compassionate community. We lead by example, providing the inspiration and encouragement needed to nurture fledgling aspirations, confidence and motivation. There is a culture of working together with an At Springwest we… approach to everything we do. Students can focus on making strong progress in a safe and happy environment because they know this is how we do it here.  Our recent Section 8 Ofsted inspection (Jan 2018) confirmed that we are on our journey to outstanding.

Springwest is located on a large green site less than 30 minutes from Waterloo and only 7 minutes’ walk from Feltham station. With easy access to the M3 and M4 we are also well located for staff looking to live outside of central London.

Springwest is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.  Applicants for the post must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including reference checks with previous employers and a criminal record check with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
