Springwest academy 6

SEND

Springwest Academy is committed to supporting pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). We acknowledge that the starting points for educating all pupils are the same: an acceptance of diversity, pupils’ rights, and the knowledge that all pupils can learn if they receive good teaching. The term ‘SEND’ is used at Springwest Academy in order to be inclusive of all pupils with these needs and in recognition of the fact that a disability will often overlap with special educational needs.

Our SEND provision is active in promoting strategies and teaching methods to support the best outcomes for pupils with SEND or additional needs. We value the uniqueness of the individual and thus respond to individual needs, where necessary delivering bespoke support plans for pupils to address barriers to learning spanning across all four broad categories of need. We acknowledge the entitlement of all pupils and ensure they receive a broad and balanced curriculum. Our team endeavours to ensure pupils are full members of the school community who have a rich and positive experience.

Our SEND team has a wide range of expertise and experience across all four broad categories of need. We work collaboratively across our large team to ensure the best possible support is in place for our pupils with SEND.

We are fortunate enough to have two Local Authority resource Centres as part of our SEND provision at Springwest Academy.

All students placed in the Centres must have an Education, Health and Care Plan which names the Centre as the required provision. The school cannot consider requests for placements in the Centre that have not been agreed by the London Borough of Hounslow SEN Team.
