Springwest Takes A Knee

The 25th of May marked the one-year anniversary of the death of George Floyd and we marked the occasion by inviting students and teachers to ‘take a knee.’ At the time, this very public act of brutality against an unarmed black man shocked the world and highlighted the injustices that black people face – not just in America, but around the world.
“Taking a knee” mirrors the civil rights protests of Martin Luther King and Colin Kaepernick and ultimately reflects our commitment to respecting every member of our community, regardless of race or ethnicity. We were truly touched by how many students and staff wanted to join our stand against racism.
Our African, Asian and Caribbean Club meets every Friday at 5:00pm on Google Meet. Every student is welcome to join, no matter their heritage or culture. The group is a place for discussion, education and respect. If your child is interested, please get in touch with their form tutor.
