World Mental Health Day at Springwest

Wednesday 10th October was World Mental Health Day and here at Springwest we reflected on how mental health problems can affect anyone, any day of the year. We used this opportunity as a great day to show our support for better mental health and to consider ways of looking after our own wellbeing.

Our mental health is just like our physical health: everybody has it and we need to take care of it.

Mental health problems affect around one in four people in any given year.  We all need to take care of our mental health and wellbeing whether we have a mental health problem or not.

Mental wellbeing describes how you are feeling and how well you can cope with day-to-day life. It can change from moment to moment, day to day, month to month or year to year.
The 10th of October was a super occasion to share some tips on practical steps our community could take to improve and maintain our wellbeing.

Our young people were able to select a range of relevant information and helpful strategies from the different services in our community. It was fantastic to see them discussing these sources with their peers and sharing strategies and advice with each other across our different Year Centres. This was so successful that it inspired us to hold a monthly Wellbeing Pop-Up for our Springwest community!
