YR8 Visit to British Museum for Maths outside the classroom.

Year 8 students visit the British Museum On the 29th and 30th January, Students from Year 8 visited the British Museum to identify the use of mathematics outside the classroom. They were exposed to a range of unfamiliar tasks with a particular focus on ratio, currency exchange and estimation. As part of this, they got the chance to handle a Roman Denarius coin and a tetradrachma coin at the Money Gallery’s object handling sessions. They also got the opportunity to solve Chinese tangrams and investigate the early numbering systems of Babylonia. “
