Welcome from the Head of Year 7
We are extremely excited that your child will be joining us in September 2026. As the Head of Year for Year 7, I am looking forward to working with you to help support your child in order that they can flourish and make the most of all of the opportunities they will be offered in their time here.
My role is to ensure that all Year 7 students are motivated to achieve their best. In school we will work hard to encourage each child to make positive choices and to grow to know the value of true lasting friendships.
At Springwest, we have developed a knowledge rich Curriculum that promotes both Sport and the Arts. We have also launched our new Character Education framework in order to ensure that students are not just developing academically but also socially and morally.
Our Curriculum develops the whole child and prepares them to live a successful and happy life. We are determined to create ambitious and curious students who have autonomy to pursue their Intellectual virtues. Through our Civic virtues our students volunteer, support charities and are developing a sense of community pride. Our Moral virtues help students to demonstrate forgiveness and empathy as well as show gratitude to others. In addition, our Performance virtues challenge them to show bravery and creativity as well as collaborate with each other.
Intellectual, Civic, Moral and Performance virtues are the foundation of good character and we are creating a culture and climate where students can thrive and they are rewarded for making the right choices.
Year 7 Team
There are many people who can help you at Springwest Academy. It takes a little time to get to know who everyone is and where they are. Your Form Tutor is similar to your class teacher in Primary School. They are the members of staff that you see each morning from Monday to Thursday. They make sure you are in school every day on time and that you have everything you need. They will tell you all the information you need to know about being successful at Springwest Academy. Your Form Tutor is the first point of contact for you and your family.
The best way for your family to contact people at school is by email.
