When did you join Springwest and why did you choose our school? 

I joined Springwest in Year 9 after relocating to the UK from Iran. It was my first year living in England and my parents were really keen to help me maximise my potential and use all the opportunities available. Therefore with lots of research on the internet and hearing very positive feedback from other people we chose Springwest. Both the staff and students helped me learn English, settle in really quickly and try my best. 

What motivated you to apply to be a student leader at Springwest? 

My deep and genuine passion for helping others has always been an important reason for me to apply for this role. Being Head Girl is a great opportunity for me to help our community by representing students' opinions on a larger platform and work towards creating better conditions and environment for everyone. 

What would you like to achieve in your role as Head Girl? 

I would like to make positive changes and better conditions that will benefit not only the students but the entire school community. I want every student to feel that their voice matters and that they are truly heard. However, most importantly I want to encourage them to step up for themselves and each other and support one another. I want them to understand that support and help doesn't necessarily have to come from a member of staff, we can help each other and make meaningful and lasting changes. 

What Co-Curricular Activities Have You Taken Part In?

I have taken part in being an Anti-Bullying ambassador, being a member of Student Council and Music Club. 

What Is Your Favourite Thing About Springwest?

My favourite thing about Springwest is the friendships I have made. At Springwest, I have learnt that school isn't merely about practicing exam questions or preparing for GCSEs, it is a place where we grow together and learn from one another and create connections that make us feel like we belong. 

What Advice Would You Give To Other Students About How to Succeed?

Five years of secondary school might seem like a very long time, but in reality it passes much quicker than you think. Every year, you may feel more pressure and there may be many people who have high expectations of you. But at the end, you are the one who has to be satisfied with your results. So remember that you're doing it for yourself. 

What Advice Would You Give to other students about how to succeed? 

If you're passionate about something, always push yourself even if you don’t feel confident.
