Mobile Phone Procedures

Springwest Academy is a phone (and similar smart technology) free school. Our mobile phone policy is known as Away All Day.

Students who decide to bring a phone to school must lock their phone in their school issued pouch each morning during prep. At the end of the day pouches can be unlocked at one of the magnet stations located on the ground floor. Phones and other devices need to be off and away from when students arrive on school site and throughout the entire day.

By removing digital devices we know that students can learn without distractions, enhance social skills, build genuine friendships and develop communication skills. This policy has student wellbeing in mind, reducing screen time and the risks associated with the use of social media platforms.

If a student does not choose to bring a mobile phone to school, the parent must sign a declaration form which the year teams will provide, If at any time students do bring their phone to school the contract would be terminated. If you ever need to contact your child urgently please contact reception, their Pastoral Mentor or Head of Year who also have mobile phones.

In the unlikely event that a student does use their phone or fail to safely store their device in a locked pouch the item will be confiscated and a parent would need to collect this from reception at the end of the day.

Pouches can be purchased on ParentPay and will need to be paid for in time for your child's September start.
