Springwest Photography Project Exhibited at Feltham Station
BackThe students worked with Damien Robinson, a deaf photographer who was working in partnership with Feltham Arts, to explore photography using light, colour and movement.
They began by creating their own lights using a battery, an LED bulb and a piece of foam. The lights could change colour and students personalised them by decorating them with different coloured foam.
Once the lights were ready, Damien set up an I-Pad on a tripod and invited a group of students to stand in front of the camera and experiment with moving their lights in different directions. They moved them up and down, from side to side, and closer to and further away from the camera.
Another group of students stood behind the camera and took on the role of directors, giving instructions to those in front about how to move their lights. The groups then swapped so that everyone had the opportunity to take part in both activities.
Finally, Damien introduced some larger lights and encouraged the students to strike different poses, allowing them to experiment with new ways of creating interesting photographs.
The finished photographs were then displayed at Feltham Station Gallery, which we took them to see, giving students the opportunity to see their creative work exhibited for the public to enjoy.
