BCC Qualifiers report

On Tuesday 21st April a two-week qualifying event began as Springwest Academy pitted their best chess players against one another to determine our Top 6 players. These selected players will go on to compete in the Borough Chess Championship during the second Summer Half Term, playing against 8 other schools in the Hounslow area.

The usual calmness of Chess Club had been replaced with an intense atmosphere and a strong sense of competition - chess clocks were out on the tables and there were no more move take-backs! For those who wanted to represent their school in the upcoming championship, it was all to play for. At the time of writing, fourteen Springwest chess enthusiasts are going head-to-head, but with the second round of qualifying matches taking place this week, there is still time for any student to get involved.
